N_Polytope: Behaviours in Light and Sound after Iannis Xenakis

A spectacular light, sound, and architectural environment created by Chris Salter in collaboration with Marije Baalman and Thomas Spier, and inspired by composer Iannis Xenakis radical 1960s-1970s works.

Canadian cellist Julia Kent will perform in support of her mesmerising, recently-released album Character (Leaf, 2013), a reflective, introverted exploration of inner geography narrated by the voice of Kent’s cello, looped into dense orchestral layers of sound.

A week long open, collaborative lab hosted by Peter Kirn of Create Digital Music and sound artist Darsha Hewitt (CA). The Hacklab is a collaborative environment in which participants create their own musical inventions that mix rediscovered analogue and electronic techniques with new, still-evolving digital processes. The Hacklab includes public presentations and closes with a performance program. Darsha Hewitt ist the- co-organizer/curator of the MusicMaker’s Hacklab this year.
