GCBC Munich

About us

DKBC München

Welcome to the GCBC Munich!

We are a non-registered business club of managers, entrepreneurs, businessmen and women, self-employed business people and media representatives from the Munich area and surroundings, with a special interest in promoting economic relationships between Germany and Canada. With this in mind and with a view to the strongly developing business relationship between Germany and Canada over the years the Munich club was founded in 1987 by the Canadian Consulate. It meets three to four times a year in the form of an evening meeting with a featured speaker and followed by a reception and has these objectives:

  •  to support and promote German-Canadian business relations;
  •  to strengthen the understanding of the economic climate, business philosophies and trends;
  •  to create a forum, where guest speakers from private and public life are invited
  •  to address an audience of Bavarian economic leaders;
  •  occasionally to allow for dissemination of information on other topics of interest;
  •  to serve as a point of contact amongst Germans and Canadians with particular emphasis on  business and economics.

Activities of the GCBC Munich

The objectives of the Deutsch-Kanadischer Business Club Munich are achieved primarily through its regular evening activities where club members can, in a relaxed, informal setting, establish business contacts, exchange business experience and hear insightful speeches of prominent German and Canadian business leaders and government officials. The evening meetings are held several times per year with featured speakers from the German and Canadian business community.

We encourage all interested businessmen and women to participate in any or all of our activities, and we welcome new attendees.  We look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events.

What does the Club logo show?

The club logo represents the native version of the Muenchner Kindl, and was created specially for the Munich club by Calvin Hunt, an internationally recognized Canadian West Coast aboriginal artist. Inspired by the Munich Monk who is represented with one hand holding the book of city laws while the other holds three fingers outstretched, Calvin took this figure and, adding the eagle and the raven – both important figures in First Nations mythology – brought Munich history and Canadian native culture together.
