Conference on Cultural Diplomacy

The Embassy of Canada in Berlin and the German-Canadian Association e.V. cordially invite you to attend the

10th annual Forum @ Kanada Haus:
The Arts Beyond Borders. Perspectives on Cultural Diplomacy

Friday, April 5, 2019
Embassy of Canada – Leipziger Platz 17, 10117 Berlin

We are excited to welcome Simon Brault, CEO of Canada Council for the Arts, as keynote speaker; Juergen Boos, director of the Frankfurt Book Fair; alongside esteemed guests from the German Federal Foreign Office and international cultural diplomacy.

The 10th Forum @ Kanada Haus focuses on aspects of cultural diplomacy, exploring current strategies and challenges in Canada, Germany and on a cross-national level. How are governments supporting their cultural actors globally? How are they working together to promote common ideas? And how can we define ‘culture’ in new technologies and media?

A special focus of the Forum is the Guest of Honor participation at the Frankfurt Book Fair, a tradition that provides each guest country with an opportunity to showcase their literary and cultural output on an international platform. Canada is currently preparing for its Guest of Honor participation in 2020.
